10th Iberian Forum of Museological Studies - Museums, Changing Worlds: Continuities, Transformations and Reimagination.

Continuing an annual initiative that the Art History Institute (IHA) at NOVA FCSH, Lisbon, through the Museum Studies research group, has partnered with since 2017, the Iberian Forum for Museological Studies has established itself as a regular space for sharing research and reflection on the history of museums and exhibitions, and the current challenges of museological thought and practices.

This year, the 10th Iberian Forum of Museological Studies, under the theme "Museums, Changing Worlds: Continuities, Transformations and Reimagination," will take place on November 12th and 13th in the city of Loulé, Portugal. It proposes a broad reflection on the multiple dimensions and potentialities of change in the contemporary museological field, seeking to explore change as a constitutive reality of the museum, but also as a condition of its vitality. In a time marked by profound social, cultural, political, environmental, and technological transformations, museums are increasingly challenged to reassess and reimagine their roles, practices, and forms of relationship with society. This change may correspond to external factors—from the world itself—to which museums seek to respond, but also to a structural and internal dimension that, at different scales and intensities, permeates museum institutions and transforms their forms of organization and action.

Celebrating its tenth edition, the Iberian Forum of Museological Studies invites academics, researchers, and museum professionals to submit proposals for 20-minute presentations that relate to, but are not limited to, the following themes:

- Institutional, organizational, and professional transformations in museums;
- Renovation, requalification and reinterpretation of museums, collections and exhibitions;
- Museums and responses to contexts of crisis, conflict or instability;
- Decolonization, narratives, archives, and critical approaches to heritage;
- Digital transition and artificial intelligence in museums;
- Education, participation, access and social impact of museums;
- Power dynamics, sustainability, and ethical, political, and social challenges;
- Public policies, governance and financing of the museum and heritage sector;
- Critical and emerging perspectives on the future of museums and museology.

Proposals should include a title and abstract (up to 500 words), as well as the author's name, institutional affiliation, biographical note (up to 150 words), and indication of the thematic area to which they belong. The abstract should clearly present the subject or theme of the communication, its main objectives and arguments, explaining its theoretical framework, methodologies, and main contributions. A brief list of bibliographic references may also be included.

Proposals in Portuguese and Spanish are accepted via email: forumiberico.10gmail.com
