Intelligent Archives: Memory. Making. Media.
Organised by Istituto Marangoni and IEREK, the conference represents the second edition of the main theme Sustainable Creative Art: Inspiration from Nature (SCIN).
Its overall aim is to encourage dialogue on the evolving relationship between generative technologies and the historical foundations of art, fashion, and design.
Intelligent Archives invites researchers and practitioners to rethink the role of the archive in the age of Generative AI. AI systems rely on the cataloguing, structuring, and processing of large amounts of data. As a result, archives and preservation practices can no longer be seen as passive repositories; instead, they must be understood as active systems that support knowledge creation and innovation.
We welcome contributions from a wide range of disciplines, both within and beyond academia. We particularly encourage submissions from specialists in Digital Humanities, Art and Architectural History, Philosophy, Information Technology, History, Art Practice, and Museum and Curatorial Studies.
Main topics include:
Memory: Heritage as Cultural Memory and a Driver of Transformation
Memory: Digital Archives and Intelligent Technologies
Memory: Adaptive Tomorrow: Design in the Age of Permanent Transition
Making: Circular Fashion and Archival Intelligence
Making: Textile Innovation and Material Futures
Making: Curating Archives: Exhibitions, Museums, and Spatiality
