International Conference "Genius Loci 2.0: Places and Meanings".

Ten years after the International Congress Genius Loci: Places and Meanings (2016), and in light of the transformations experienced worldwide during this period, the Department of Heritage Sciences and Techniques (DCTP) and CITCEM of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Porto, announces the 2026 edition of this Scientific Meeting. This renewed edition is attentive to the challenges and demands currently facing the social sciences.
The event continues to celebrate three decades of specialised teaching and research in Archaeology, Art History, and Museology at the DCTP, as well as its sustained commitment to heritage promotion and intervention.

Genius Loci 2.0 seeks contributions that engage with the conceptual, epistemological, and technological developments shaping contemporary research in Heritage Sciences and Techniques. Aligned with the CITCEM Strategic Plan 2025–2029, focused on the theme “Finding communities and expanding dialogues”, Genius Loci 2.0: Places and Meanings welcomes multi-, inter-, and transdisciplinary proposals within the following thematic sections:
- Architectures
- Sacred Spaces
- Heritage Management
- Images and Contexts
- Worlds of Transition
- Vernacular
- Landscapes, Territories & Mobilities

Each thematic section will feature keynote lectures by distinguished invited scholars (40 minutes), followed by paper presentations (20 minutes). Participation through poster presentations is also welcome; posters must align with the themes of the respective sections. Each submission should include:
- Title, Abstract (300 words),
- 5 keywords,
- Short bio (150 words).
Proposals for papers and posters may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English.
