Galerie Gmurzynska is currently looking to fill a full-time position (100%) for an Art Historian based in Zürich.
For nearly 60 years Galerie Gmurzynska has been a leading international art gallery, specializing in masterpieces of both classic modern and post war contemporary art; it is the leading gallery for the Avant-garde and early 20th century abstraction. During the past six decades Galerie Gmurzynska has published over 300 important books, which are renowned in the field of art history and form part of major art libraries worldwide.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
- In-depth research of Modern Art works
- Writing for both publications and dossiers
- Working on loan requests
- Working on publication projects
- Proofreading and fact checking of gallery dossiers
- Archival research
Required knowledge, skills and qualifications:
- Degree in Art History (B.A required / M.A, Ph.D. optional)
- Detail-oriented and eager
- Excellent art historical knowledge of the 20th century
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Familiar with Apple systems (helpful), able to work with Microsoft Office software
- Art database experience (helpful)
- Excellent written and spoken English (C1/C2), German proficiency encouraged
