Matha Ngupanmi: A Summit on Yolngu (Indigenous Australian Art) and Ideas.

Accompanying the major exhibition "MADAYIN: Eight Decades of Aboriginal Australian Bark Painting from Yirrkala" at American University Museum at the Katzen Center, Washington DC., this two day summit will feature conversions, film screenings, talks and performances from Indigenous artists, curators and knowledge holders from across Australia and the United States.

In the Yolngu language, "Matha Ŋupanmi" translates to “exploring each other’s words.” Join us for this free program of events to learn about one world’s greatest artistic traditions from the perspective of those who shaped it.
