OFFER DESCRIPTION
The CReA-Patrimoine at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences is offering a multi-year PhD fellowship in History of Art at the ULB (Université libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium). This funding will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work on a research project released in the framework of an ARC (action de recherche concertée/collective research action): USINE (uses of sculpture and industrialization: new evolvements).
The Doctoral Thesis should be completed in 36 months (3 years – 2021-2024); the last year will be devoted to the publication of the thesis in the collection of the CReA-Patrimoine. The thesis will be published by September 2025.
This position is situated at a dynamic center and research programme; the candidate will have a full access to all contacts, collaborations and events in the framework of USINE
The doctoral thesis will be supervised by Prof. Sébastien Clerbois.

The Doctoral Thesis topic is: "the mutations of sculpture workshop practices, between 1850 and 1914". This topic is generic. In their motivation letter, candidates may already propose a more restricted thesis subject or project within this general theme, including geographical or chronological limitations.

Candidate profile
Applicants should hold an excellent master’s degree in History of Art (120 ECTS) and have strong research interests in the History of Sculpture and especially in Contemporary Sculpture (19th-20th Centuries).
MA2 students are allowed to apply.
