CALL FOR PAPERS (DEADLINE: 15/11/2011)
1ST ISSUE OF TRANSGUARDIA
TOWARDS GASTRONOMY, ARCHITECTURE AND THE ARTS
A NEW MAGAZINE ON GASTRONOMY
TransGuardia is a seasonal paper focussed on the creation of an interdisciplinary dynamism around the avant-garde trends in gastronomy of today. With gastronomy as its epicentre, the magazine will refer to architecture, fine arts, music, literature and history. Gastronomy will be approached with a spectrum, which is sought to be as broad as possible and can represent itself as cultural heritage.
We will shed light upon revolutions of gastronomy, particularly if they are associated with tradition, craftsmanship and the natural elements. More concrete, this means that those who respect elements like the seasons, the existence of a historical framework, the importance of ‘terroir’, and those who try to create/respect a unique identity, will be counted as subject of this magazine. This group of professionals, who strive to find a personal and radical way of working, are counted as today’s ‘avant-garde’.
The conceptual model of the magazine is based upon a triangular structure. The author is asked to position himself between gastronomy, a theme (which changes every issue) and his own expertise (based upon his background, personality, specialties....). We encourage authors to take a very personal position within this triangle - sometimes more related to gastronomy, other times more related to the theme of the issue, or their own speciality.
CONTRIBUTIONS
For this first issue of our magazine, we are looking for textual and visual contributions to fit into our winter issue, which will focus on “Memory”. Contributions may be widely interpreted within the triangular structure as defined above. Please send an abstract of no more then 500 words or a digital visual proposal to officetransguardia.eu before November 15, 2011. Please also include a biography of no more then 150 words. Once you are selected for publication, you will be contacted.
