Eingabeschluss : 01.06.2018

Caitlin Overton, The Warehouse / Rachofsky Collection

The Rachofsky Collection announces an open call for participation in its inaugural Graduate Symposium at The Warehouse in Dallas, Texas—an exhibition space and project initiated by Cindy and Howard Rachofsky to make their collection available to curators, scholars, critics, and students. With aims to expand research on postwar and contemporary art, the 2018 Graduate Symposium invites master’s and doctoral students to present their scholarly work on a host of artists and topics pertaining to Postwar Italy, Postwar Japan, and Postwar Korea. Students invited to present papers at the symposium will have the opportunity to access works in the collection during a two-day, partially-funded research visit prior to the symposium. Additionally, papers presented at the symposium will be published in a compendium together with the paper delivered by the keynote speaker, Dr. Ming Tiampo. Tiampo is a scholar of transnational vanguardism with a focus on Japan after 1945. In 2013, she was co-curator of Gutai: Splendid Playground at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

We invite paper presentations of 20 minutes in length. Complete proposals must include the following:

- A complete mailing address, email address, phone number, research field, and university affiliation of participant.
- Paper title and abstract of no more than 300 words that includes three to five keywords.

Preference will be given to those papers that address artists in The Rachofsky Collection. Please visit our website for more information about the symposium and research visit and for a list of select artists and art groups/movements in The Rachofsky Collection.
