Under the ArTravel project, The Portuguese Centre for Global History (CHAM) organizes an interdisciplinary International Conference titled Empire and Colonial Art and invites all interested to submit proposals (abstracts) for the event which will take place on 6 and 7 April 2017 in Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

THEMATIC PANELS MARKED FROM 18th TO 20th CENTURY
1. The Cultural Policy of European Colonial Empires
2. Representation of Colonial Art in Metropolis
3. Repercussions of Colonial Influence in Artistic Creation of Ex-Colonies
4. Routes and Discourses of the Pictorial Colonial
Communications may go beyond these thematic panels.

SCHEDULE
• Proposals sent until: 1 July 2016
• Accept abstracts: 1 Setembro 2016
• Full papers (complying with the standards to be published) sent by: 1 November 2016
• Recommended Changes: 1 December 2016
• Online and paper publication: April de 2017

How to apply
Applicants must submit name(s), email address and affiliation, as well as the title, abstract (max. 300 words) outlining a 20-minute paper along with a brief bio (max. 150 words) before 1 July to mariajoaocastrofcsh.unl.pt
All proposals will undergo a blind peer review system.
Authors are responsible for all image reproduction rights.
Working languages: Portuguese, French, Spanish or English. No translation will be provided.
The best papers will be published in e-book with open access and in a paper edition (with ISBN).

PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Word document, 12 pages maximum, space 1.5, lettering Time New Roman, footnotes and a final bibliography until six references.
