VENEZIA ARTI | Journal of the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage
Venezia Arti is the annual journal of the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage at Ca' Foscari University in Venice undergoing blind peer review and published both in print and digital copy (open access) by Edizioni Ca’ Foscari. Founded in 1987 by Giuseppe Mazzariol and Wladimiro Dorigo as the bulletin of the then Department of art history and critics, after almost 30 years of activity the journal has strengthened its scientific role and gained much appraisal at international level. The journal welcomes scholars of all disciplines surrounding the arts and fosters an interdisciplinary approach capable of analysing systemic developments and critical issues in artistic culture.

CALL FOR ARTICLES 2016 | The Pale and Gatekeepers of the Arts
Venezia Arti is looking for contributors to its 2016 issue entitled "The Pale and Gatekeepers of the Arts" and curated by Roberta Dreon and Diego Mantoan. Without borders between artistic disciplines, methodological approach or temporal scope, this issue is set to examine the idea of threshold in the arts – meaning the limit which separates art from what is not considered as such – as well as the gatekeepers of that same boundary. Scholars are particularly invited to ponder, whether this frontier is irreversible, unalterable and insurmountable or if it can rather be challenged, expanded and cross various realms.

The journal welcomes proposals by scholars of several disciplines – from philosophy to art history, from sociology to arts economics – which may focus their contribution on the following themes:

- Art or maybe not: a definition query? The Pale between arts, philosophy, economy and society
- Arts and their gatekeepers: an adamantine bond? The Pale between art worlds along time and space
- Contemporary art worlds: an unsure Pale? The unlikely distinction between arts, entertainment and luxury

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION | Instructions and information
If you are interested, please write an abstract of no more than 3000 characters (spaces included) together with a short biographical note and the provisional title. All materials should be sent by March 15, 2016 via email (subject: "Venezia Arti 2016 – Call for Articles") to the curators at the following addresses: robdreunive.it and diego.mantoanunive.it. Notice of selection will be given to authors within three weeks from submission deadline.

Finalised articles should not exceed 30.000 characters (spaces included, plus notes and bibliography) and will undergo blind peer review. Accepted languages are Italian, English and French, though all texts must have an English abstract and stick to the editorial guidelines of Edizioni Ca’ Foscari. Please note that the author must secure all copyright permissions for images and that all image reproduction costs are also borne by the author.
The deadline for all articles accepted is June 30, 2016.

Venezia Arti è la rivista annuale di storia della arti del Dipartimento di Filosofia e Beni Culturali dell’Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia, soggetta a blind peer review e realizzata sia in stampa che in digitale (open access) dalle Edizioni Ca’ Foscari. Fondata nel 1987 da Giuseppe Mazzariol e Wladimiro Dorigo come bollettino dell’allora Dipartimento di Storia e critica delle arti, dopo quasi trent’anni ha mantenuto e consolidato il suo ruolo raccogliendo un vasto consenso nel mondo scientifico internazionale. La rivista è aperta a studiosi di tutti i settori delle arti e incoraggia una visione di tipo interdisciplinare, capace di documentare con sistematicità critica avvenimenti e problemi nella cultura artistica.

CALL FOR ARTICLES 2016 | La soglia e i custodi delle arti
Venezia Arti è aperta a contributi per il numero del anno 2016 dedicato al tema "La soglia e i custodi delle arti" e curato da Roberta Dreon e Diego Mantoan. Senza limitazione di discipline artistiche, approccio metodologico o spettro temporale questo numero vuole indagare l'idea di soglia nelle arti - inteso quale confine fra ciò che viene o meno considerato arte – e il ruolo dei custodi della stessa. Si invita soprattutto a discutere, se si tratti di una frontiera irreversibile, immutabile e invalicabile oppure contendibile, estensibile e intersecante con altri mondi.
La rivista accoglie proposte di studiosi in varie discipline – dalla filosofia alla storia delle arti, dalla sociologia all'economia delle arti – che orientino il proprio contributo alle seguenti aree tematiche:

- Arte oppure no: un problema definitorio? La soglia fra arti, filosofia, economia e società
- Arti e i loro custodi: un rapporto immutabile? La soglia fra mondi dell'arte lungo i secoli e spazi
- Mondi dell'arte nella contemporaneità: una soglia labile? La distinzione improbabile fra arti, intrattenimento e lusso

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION | Istruzioni e informazioni
Per proporre un contributo si prega di inviare il titolo provvisorio e un abstract di max. 3.000 battute (spazi inclusi) con una breve nota biografica. I materiali vanno inviati entro il 15 marzo 2016 ai curatori del numero agli indirizzi robdreunive.it e diego.mantoanunive.it con oggetto della mail "Venezia Arti 2016 – Call for Articles". Gli autori degli abstract selezionati saranno contattati entro le tre settimane successive.

Gli articoli definitivi non devono superare le 30.000 battute (spazi inclusi, escluse note e bibliografia) e sono soggetti a blind peer review. Le lingue accettate sono italiano, inglese e francese. Indipendentemente dalla lingua di redazione, tutti gli articoli devono prevedere l’abstract in lingua inglese e rispettare le norme editoriali delle Edizioni Ca’ Foscari. I testi difformi non saranno accettati. Gli autori devono provvedere autonomamente a costi e diritti di riproduzione di eventuali immagini, da fornire obbligatoriamente in alta definizione.
La consegna definitiva degli articoli è il 30 giugno 2016.
