Die europäische Bildnisminiatur: Künstler, Funktionen und Sammlungen
Internationale Tagung der Tansey Miniatures Foundation, im Celler Schloss, 11.-13. November 2016

Im Januar 2013 veranstaltete die Tansey Miniatures Foundation ihre erste Tagung zum Thema der europäischen Bildnisminiatur.

Die Schwerpunkte deckten damals bewusst ein breites Spektrum ab. Gerade die Betrachtung der Miniaturmalerei aus verschiedensten Blickwinkeln ist es, die ein vertieftes Verständnis dieser Sonderform der Porträtmalerei ermöglicht. Die Tagung 2016 wird deshalb wieder für vielfältige Aspekte geöffnet:

- Einzelne Miniaturisten, spezifische Werkstattzusammenhänge und Herstellungsorte
- Verwendung im höfischen und privaten Milieu, Akteure
- Ikonographische Aspekte im Kontext von Repräsentation oder Intimität
- Wandel der Herstellungstechniken und Materialien
- Private und öffentliche Sammlungsbestände

Die Tagung findet anlässlich der für den 11. November 2016 vorgesehenen Eröffnung der sechsten Ausstellung der Tansey Miniatures Foundation und der Publikation des begleitenden Kataloges statt: "Miniaturen des Barock aus der Sammlung Tansey".

Die Tagungssprache ist Englisch. Die Vorträge sollten eine Länge von 25 Minuten nicht überschreiten und werden im Anschluss an die Tagung gesondert publiziert (Publikation der Tagungsbeiträge 2013, siehe: http://www.imhof-verlag.de/european-portrait-miniatures.html). Reisekosten, Unterkunft und Verpflegung übernimmt die Tansey Miniatures Foundation.

Exposés in englischer Sprache und im Umfang von nicht mehr als 1500 Zeichen erbitten wir bis zum 31. März 2016 unter Angabe von Namen, Adresse und gegebenenfalls der institutionellen Anbindung an:

European Portrait Miniatures: Artists, Functions and Collections

International symposium of the Tansey Miniatures Foundation, to be held at Celle Castle, Germany, 11-13 November 2016
In January 2013 the Tansey Miniatures Foundation held its first conference on European portrait miniatures (http://tansey-miniatures.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/tansey-flyer-2012-09-28-screen.pdf). At the time a conscious decision was made to cover a broad spectrum. It is precisely the consideration of miniature painting from various viewpoints that opens up an in-depth understanding of this special form of portraiture. The 2016 conference will therefore once again cover a wide range of aspects:

- Individual miniaturists, specific workshop contexts, and places of production
- Use of both court and private types and their protagonists
- Iconographic aspects in the context of representation or intimacy
- Evolution of techniques and materials
- Less well-known collections in museums

The symposium will be held on the occasion of the planned opening of the sixth exhibit of the Tansey Miniatures Foundation and the publication of the accompanying catalogue, "Miniatures from the Baroque Period in the Tansey Collection"

The conference will be in English. Lectures should not exceed 25 minutes and are to be published separately following the conference.
