around the Baltic Sea, 1450-1720>, Copenhagen, 21-22 March 2003.

Dear Colleagues!

Also on behalf of Professor Thomas DaCosta Kaufmann (Princeton University),
it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the international
conference <Cultural Traffic and Cultural Transformation around the Baltic
Sea, 1450-1720> which will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, 21 and 22
March 2003. The conference aims at outlining a more complete picture of the
processes and impacts of the interaction between local and foreign cultures
in the Baltic area in the period 1450 to 1720, i.e. from the final heyday of
the Hansa to the beginning of the strong Russian presence in the Baltic.

Among the speakers are researchers from Norway, Sweden, Denmark but also
from Estonia, Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and USA. As you can
see, the programme does not allow additional papers but we hope that you
will contribute to discussions and debate.

The conference will take place at the Carlsberg Academy. Below you will find
the whole conference programme (you are very welcome to distribute it among
colleagues). For the program as a word file, please reply to

Registration in advance is necessary due to limited space at the Academy !
Hopefully you will be able to join us in Copenhagen,

best regards,
Badeloch Noldus
