DAAD Visiting Professor

The University of Texas at Austin is looking for highly qualifies
applicants (with EU citizenship residing for the last two years in
Germany) for a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) visiting
professor position beginning fall 2003. The University is seeking a
scholar with Ph.D. and several years of teaching experience who works
in some area of transnational studies that includes Germany. Of
greatest interest are academics with disciplinary specialization in
cultural anthropology or ethnography specializing in migration
studies, ethnic studies, and/or the question of German and European
identity. Also of interest are scholars from the social and cultural
sciences more generally working on the post-war period, especially
the German Democratic Republic/ the new Bundesländer, Eastern Europe,
or globalization. The host department for this position is the
Department of Germanic Studies in the College of Liberal Arts. The
initial appointment is for two years, renewable for a total of five
years.
