The Association of Historians of American Art (AHAA)
is a membership organization and an affiliated society of the College Art Association (CAA)

Founded in 1979, AHAA promotes scholarship in the history of the art of the United States, providing a forum for presenting and advancing new approaches to the subject, for examining problems that confront the field, and for identifying scholarly needs and opportunities for its members. AHAA is particularly interested in strengthening ties among museum curators, museum educators, and college and university professors. It holds an annual meeting and hosts sessions at the College Art Association Annual Conference, co-sponsors symposia, and offers travel grants.
Membership in the Association of Historians of American Art is open to students, educators, museum professionals, independent art historians, and others involved in the history of the art of the United States.

Annual dues support an online Membership Directory to facilitate exchange among scholars; newsletters with notices of exhibitions, jobs, fellowships, and conferences; participation in our annual symposium; opportunities to present new scholarship and discuss issues in the field at AHAA-sponsored conference sessions<http://ahaaonline.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49:caa&catid=35:about&Itemid=77> at the CAA annual meeting; and travel grants<http://ahaaonline.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=55:travelgrant&catid=35:about&Itemid=65>.
