Job description:

The Department of Art History invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work with the research project Continuity and Rupture in the Art and Architecture of Central Europe, 1918-1939, funded by the European Research Council (https://craace.com).

Based at Masaryk University, Brno, the research associate position is a full-time appointment, initially for 3 years but renewable up to December 2023. The successful applicant will take up the position in June 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The project consists of a comparative analysis of the art and architecture of interwar Austria, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. The project team is looking in particular for a researcher with a specialism in Gender and Sexuality in order to develop this as an additional project theme

Main Duties :

1) To undertake research necessary for the successful completion of the project Continuity or Rupture? Art and Architecture in Central Europe, 1918-1939

2) To be responsible for a programme of research activities and publications linked to the theme of sexuality and gender in twentieth-century central European art.

3) To collect and analyse research data through the collation of primary visual, textual and archival sources as well as secondary literature

4) To disseminate research findings through publication (e.g. articles, exhibitions, presentation of papers at research seminars, symposia etc)

5) To assist in the management and administration of the project, including management of the project website

6) To contribute to research-related activities and research-related administration in the Department of Art History
