Open position: Assistant Professor in Japanese Studies
(Tenure Track, specialisation in Digital Humanities / Digital Transformation)

The open position in Japanese Studies is part of a cluster of tenure track assistant/associate professorships aiming at strengthening research and teaching in the field ‘Digital Transformation‘ at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. The term ‘Digital Transformation’ is understood very broadly, it includes any kind of specialisation in the field of digitalisation (as a socio-cultural phenomenon and/or method used in the field of digital humanities). Command of German needs to be obtained within the first three years of appointment.

4 Open Topic Tenure Track Professorships for Digital Transformation
(W1 / Assistant Professor or W2 / Associate Professor)

This call for applications addresses outstanding early career scholars with the ambition of developing their own profiles and careers as part of the strategic development of a key priority in cooperation with renowned scholars at FAU (‘Open Topic Tenure Track’). The positions announced in this call for applications will strengthen research and teaching in the field ‘Digital Transformation‘. The successful candidates will be invited to play an active role in the FAU key research priority ‘Electronics, Analytics and Digital Transformation’, the Interdisciplinary Center for Digital Humanities and Social Sciences (IZdigital) at FAU as well as in the FAU Center for Management, Technology and Society (CMTS).

Applications are invited for a W1 professorship in the Department of Classical World and Asian Cultures at the Institute of Languages and Cultures of the Middle East and East Asia. The successful candidate will be expected to represent the subject of Japanese studies in teaching and research. The position requires qualifications in Japanese studies, which should generally be in the form of a doctoral degree in Japanese studies, and evidence of specialisation in the field of digitalisation (as a socio-cultural phenomenon and/or method used in the field of digital humanities and social sciences).
