PhD possibilities: nineteenth-century caricature

Liverpool John Moores University is currently advertising a PhD Scholarship scheme: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/about-us/news/new-postgraduate-scholarships. This scheme offers payment of fees, a stipend and a contribution to research expenses.

Applications have to be put forward by a Director of Studies and with a specific project in mind. The Research Centre for Literature and Cultural History is looking to submit an application for a doctoral candidate to work on the early 19th-century caricature collection held in the Central Library Liverpool with Professor Brian Maidment, author of Comedy, Caricature and the Social Order (M.U.P., 2013) as Director of Studies. We are looking for potential applicants with a strong academic record and interests in the materiality of visual images, nineteenth-century cultural history, caricature and working with archival sources.
