Postdoctoral Fellowship in The Visual Imagination:its role in culture and its basis in neuroscience

Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Visual Imagination, its role in culture and its basis in neuroscience, part of a project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and run by a neuroscientist, Adam Zeman, University of Exeter, and an art historian, John Onians, University of East Anglia. Candidates, who may have a primary background in either the humanities or the sciences, will be interested in understanding the role of the visual imagination in art and/or other fields. They will hold or be about to gain a PhD in this or a closely-related area of research. The Fellow will be a key participant in a broad enquiry relating the history of thinking about visual imagery to contemporary understanding of its neural basis. An enthusiasm for bridging the divide between the humanities and sciences will be crucial. This post is available 80% full-time for one year from January 2015.
