THE INTERIOR: ART, SPACE, AND PERFORMANCE (EARLY MODERN TO POSTMODERN)

Vier Promotionsstellen am Institut für Kunstgeschichte der Universität Bern
zum 1. März 2012 für die Dauer von drei Jahren zu besetzen.

Im Rahmen des vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds geförderten Sinergia-Projekts „The Interior: Art, Space, and Performance (Early Modern to Postmodern)“ sind am Institut für Kunstgeschichte der Universität Bern vier Stellen für Doktoranden/-innen ab dem 1. März 2012 zu besetzen.

Das aus einem Schwerpunkt des Berner Instituts für Kunstgeschichte hervorgegangene Sinergia-Projekt „The Interior“ wird an zwei Universitäten in sechs Subprojekten durchgeführt. Insgesamt können sechs Promotionsstellen und eine PostDoc-Koordinationsstelle für drei Jahre finanziert werden. Unter der Leitung von fünf Kunsthistorikern/-innen und einem Theaterwissenschaftler werden unterschiedliche Entwürfe, Modelle, Konzeptualisierungen und Interpretationen von Innenräumen in Kunst, Architektur, Theater und visueller Kultur von der Frühen Neuzeit bis in die Gegenwart untersucht. Ausgehend von einem heterogenen und dynamischen Konzept des Innenraums, das sich auf verschiedene Medien, Gattungen und Kontexte bezieht, sollen neue Fragestellungen weitergeführt werden, wie sie gegenwärtig die Kunst- und Architekturgeschichte, die Theaterwissenschaft und die Bildwissenschaften beschäftigen. Am Sinergia-Projekt „The Interior“ sind folgende Subprojekte beteiligt.

Ausgeschrieben werden hiermit je eine Promotionsstelle zu den Subprojekten Borkopp-Restle, Göttler, Gramaccini und Nicolai/Shaw (alle Institut für Kunstgeschichte, Universität Bern). Die Stellen sind auf höchstens drei Jahre befristet und dienen ausschließlich der Durchführung des Dissertationsprojekts. Assoziierte Mitgliedschaften sind möglich.

Mit Sinergia ermöglicht der Schweizerische Nationalfonds innovative Forschungsprojekte von internationalem Interesse, die zur Elite-Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses beitragen.

Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und Nachwuchswissenschaftler jeder Nationalität sind aufgefordert, sich bis zum 25. November 2011 mit einem Lebenslauf, einer Projektskizze (höchstens drei Seiten) und einer Zusammenfassung der Lizentiats-, Master- oder Magisterarbeit (höchstens zwei Seiten) elektronisch zu bewerben. Neben Kunst- und Architekturhistorikern/-innen sind auch Bewerber/-innen aus verwandten Disziplinen, besonders der Theaterwissenschaft, willkommen.

Announcement for four three-year doctoral posts at the Institute of Art History, University of Bern, beginning March 1, 2012

In the framework of the Sinergia Project “The Interior: Art, Space, and Performance (Early Modern to Postmodern)”, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, four doctoral positions will be available as of March 1, 2012.

Under the leadership of the Bern Institute of Art History, the aforementioned Sinergia Project “The Interior” will be run through six subprojects at two universities. In total six doctoral and one post-doctoral-coordinating position can be funded for three years. Directed by five art historians and one theatre historian, diverse models, concepts, and interpretations of interiors in art, architecture, theatre and visual culture from the Early Modern to the Contemporary eras will be investigated. Proceeding from a heterogeneous and dynamic concept of the interior drawn from various media, styles, and contexts, new questions will emerge simultaneously engaging various disciplines. As a Sinergia project, “The Interior” is divided into the following subprojects:

Doctoral positions for the following subprojects are currently open: Borkopp-Restle, Göttler, Gramaccini and Nicolai / Shaw (all Institute of Art History, University of Bern). The positions will be funded for a maximum of three years and will support the execution of dissertation projects. Associated positions are possible.

Through Sinergia, the Swiss National Science Foundation enables innovative research projects of international interest that promote new generations of scholars involved in elite research.

Applicants with outstanding qualifications are encouraged to apply. In addition to art and architectural historians, applicants from other related disciplines, particularly Theatre Studies, are welcome.

Application materials should be submitted electronically and should include a letter of interest, a curriculum vitae, a research proposal (maximum three pages) and a summary of the applicant’s M.A. thesis (maximum two pages).
