Research Question - Robert Filliou and George Brecht

Rosemary O'Neill, Parsons The New School for Design

The Conseil Général Alpes-Maritimes is organizing a documents exhibition dedicated to the artists' store, La Cédille qui Sourit, operated by Fluxus artists Robert Filliou and Georges Brecht in the Mediterranean town Villefranche-sur-Mer outside of Nice, France. The time period covered by the exhibition is 1965-1968 and it will include photos and documents of their activities, publications, and performance works during that time, including those beyond the region -- in New York, Stockholm, Paris, for example.

Assistance would be appreciated in locating photographs of George Brecht and/or Robert Filliou in New York (individually or together), especially their Fluxus events held at the Cafe au Go Go on Bleeker Street in NYC, the Flux Hall on Canal Street, NYC, or photos at the Chelsea Hotel. Specifically, I am seeking photos/documents from January to March 1965, when both artists were in NYC, which have proved especially difficult to locate. Scott Hyde Archives has been extremely helpful already. I am aware of Peter Moore's photos but access to specific photos has proved challenging. And I have accessed the Silverman Archives at MoMA already.

Can anyone direct me to another source? Do the Jean Brown Archives at the Getty contain any of these photos? George Maciunas Archives?

Any assistance would be most appreciated. Rosemary O'Neill can be contacted directly at oneillrnewschool.edu.
